At Canadian Farm Signs, every custom project tells a story — and the sign created for Moffat Farm Corp., located northwest of Cabri in the RMs of Riverside and Miry Creek, Saskatchewan, is a perfect example of how collaboration turns an idea into a lasting legacy piece.

This project wasn’t about starting from scratch.

It was about transforming an existing farm entrance into something bold, modern, and unmistakably theirs.

Starting With an Existing Sign — And a Bigger Vision

Moffat Farm Corp. already had entrance posts in place, but the existing sign no longer represented the growth and identity of their operation.

Rather than replacing everything, the goal was to upgrade the visual centerpiece while keeping the original structure intact.

This approach allowed us to:

  • preserve the established entrance,
  • reduce unnecessary cost,
  • and focus entirely on creating a premium custom steel sign.

Here was the existing sign:

Developing the Farm Brand & Logo

A strong farm sign begins with strong branding.

The Moffat Farm Corp. family came to us with an idea for a logo — a concept that reflected agriculture, growth, and pride in their land.

From there, Canadian Farm Signs worked closely with the client to evolve that idea into a logo built specifically for metal fabrication.

We refined:

  • proportions for visibility from the road,
  • spacing and readability,
  • line weight suitable for CNC cutting,
  • and design balance for a multi-layer build.

The result was a recognizable farm brand that would stand out both up close and at a distance.

Here are the before and after logo ideas:

Designing for Impact: Colour & Layered Construction

Once the logo was finalized, we moved into the design stage.

This sign was designed as a multi-layer structural steel build, allowing individual elements to stand out with depth and contrast.

Key design decisions included:

  • a black powder-coated background to create strong visual contrast,
  • vibrant green and yellow powder coating to represent agriculture and growth,
  • raised lettering for dimension and shadowing,
  • layered components that create a premium, high-end appearance.

The goal was simple: create a sign that immediately catches attention while remaining timeless:

Precision Fabrication: CNC Cutting the Steel Components

With approvals complete, fabrication began.

Each component of the sign was precision cut from steel using CNC technology, ensuring perfect accuracy across every detail of the design.

CNC cutting allows us to:

  • maintain exact logo proportions,
  • achieve clean, professional edges,
  • and ensure every layer aligns perfectly during assembly.

Every letter, wheat detail, and accent piece was individually cut before moving to finishing.

Built to Last: Powder Coating for Prairie Conditions

Saskatchewan weather demands durability.

To ensure long-term performance, each element of the sign received professional in-house powder coating.

The black background creates contrast, allowing the raised green and yellow lettering to truly pop while also providing exceptional protection against:

  • UV exposure
  • moisture and corrosion
  • temperature extremes
  • everyday farm conditions

Powder coating ensures the sign will maintain its appearance for years with minimal maintenance

The raised lettering, bold colours, and agricultural branding combined to create a sign that reflects both professionalism and farm pride..

Completing the Upgrade

Because the original entrance posts remained in place, installation focused on integrating the new sign seamlessly into the existing structure.

The finished result elevated the entire farm entrance — transforming it into a landmark that represents Moffat Farm Corp.’s identity and future.
